Accella Celebrates Their Five Year Anniversary

Accella Has Been Working on Websites and Mobile Applications Since Before the iPhone Even Launched

Accella's Five Year AnniversarySeptember 29, 2011 – Baltimore, MD: Leading interactive mobile & web design & development company, Accella recently celebrated their five year anniversary designing and developing websites and mobile applications.  Since their start five years ago, they have grown to over 22 employees and have developed websites and mobile applications for national clients as well as local organizations.

Their sustained growth over the past five years is a testament to the company’s mantra of delivering projects on time, in budget, and within scope.  “We focus a lot of effort on customer service, it is a big differentiating factor for us,” said Vice President of Business Development, John Rainey.  “We talk with so many companies that decide to develop their projects overseas to try and save on costs, and while that can work if you stay on top of the development team, we find many of them coming back to us six to eight months later looking for us to take over the project.  I think the ability to pick up a phone and talk directly to the people designing and developing your project is something that is grossly undervalued in our industry.  That is a huge differentiator for us, and is one of the reasons we retain 95% of our clients.”

Jason King, President of Accella admits that it isn’t always easy to keep clients happy. “There are many times that our clients come to us with late changes to the project which generally push back timelines and increase development costs.  We generally try and be as flexible as possible in keeping deadlines despite changes in scope that might delay other companies.  The quality of designers and developers that we hire allow us to leverage their knowledge and expertise to keep projects going despite unforeseen challenges.”

Accella has been named as a best place to work by both the Baltimore Business Journal and Baltimore magazine, additionally they have been recognized by the BBJ as one of the fastest growing companies, largest private firms, and largest web development firms in Baltimore.

Each of Accella’s 22 employees works from home, a huge perk that has allowed them to retain nearly every one that has every started with the firm.  “In the five years that we have been around, we have only had one person leave the company on their own,” said Steve Demby, Chief Operating Officer at Accella. “The fact that we have designers and developers around two, three, even five years after we finish a project has helped many of our clients that come to us with modifications or updates three years after we finish a project.  I often hear a huge sigh of relief when they find out the same developer is going to do the updates that did the initial development, that is something we’re seeing less and less of with other firms, especially ones that outsource development overseas.”

Accella plans on continuing to grow over the next three to five years, adding resources when necessary, and ensuring that their client’s needs are met at every time in the development cycle.  For a list of available jobs, you can visit their website, www.accella.net/careers.
