The HomeExchange iPhone application is designed to bring the functionality of their popular HomeExchange website to iPhone users. HomeExchange allows travelers to stay in the comfort and privacy of a home and experience an area as a local, not a tourist. No hotel blues, no hotel bills.

Exchange partners will tell others about the best local restaurants, markets, hikes, bike trails, surf spots and shopping, things you won’t find in any guide books. Users can avoid costly hotels and apartment rentals and have more budget for restaurants, shopping and activities that make for lasting memories.

Accella’s Role in Development

Accella worked closely with everyone at HomeExchange to design, develop, and launch this application in under two months. While HomeExchange handled the web services, Accella worked on the design of the application, building wireframes and comp designs for all screens in the application and then moved on to development. The app pulls information directly out of their existing database, so when users add their homes through the website, or update their information, it is automatically added and updated in the mobile application.

In addition to looking at migrating the application to the Android platform, HomeExchange is looking to make this application available in multiple languages.
