From a draft handwritten letter from presidential candidate Richard Nixon to Jackie Robinson to more well-known items such as the Gettysburg Address, the National Archives houses an amazing assortment of documents and images that tell the story of American history via artifacts.
Forget Throwback Thursday, Today’s Doc allows users to look back on any day of the year to see important images and documents that are associated to that specific day in American history. The user can zoom in on documents, read background information, and share on social media.
Connecting into the archives database and presenting these images in a way that is easily examined in detail was no simple task. But like all of Accella’s projects, the planning and discovery process helped map a path towards a dynamic application that creates a seamless experience for the user and hides the complexity via a clean and usable interface.
